Web site sells Detroit land for $1 per square inch

by admin on February 16, 2010

A Web site is being used to hawk square inches of land in Detroit for a dollar apiece. Jerry Paffendorf is selling 10,000 square inches of land that sits on an empty lot on the city’s east side. It’s a project he calls Loveland that combines art, entertainment and real estate.

Paffendorf told The Detroit News that he moved to the city to create the project. The 28-year-old tells the Detroit Free Press for a Saturday story that nearly 600 “inchvestors” have bought plots.

Some pay for just one, but he says others have bought 1,000. They get to use the land as they wish. Some plan to put up tiny buildings. Paffendorf plans to stream video of the site this spring.
