So, by now you may have seen the Obama campaign's response to John McCain's choice of running mate: "Today, John McCain put the former mayor of a town of 9000 with zero foreign policy experience a heartbeat away from the presidency." That's strange...I didn't realize Obama was a seasoned foreign policy luminary himself! Is this "experience" thing something Barack really want to discuss? Apparently it is. Here's how our friends at the Huffington Post have
2. Paper or Plastic? How about a New TAX?
A bill that has been circulating around the capitol all year now has a new number, but it's still just as bad. In the 11th hour "gut and amend", legislation that would impose a $0.25 tax on paper and plastic grocery bags. A similar bill was held by the Senate Appropriations Committee earlier this month, yet the proponents are attempting to advance this proposal during the waning days of the legislative session. One voter demographic where McCain is apparently having some problems are disaffected white males. I spotted this funny Craig Ferguson clip on YouTube that may offer some insight into how Palin might appeals to that bloc:

One of the immediate MSM chatter points is whether Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin can go "toe-to-toe" with Sen. Joe Biden on foreign policy, leading them to forget an essential fact:The Vice Presidency is whatever the President wants it to be.We've been conditioned by the Bush Administration, and to a lesser extent by the Clinton president, to think of the Vice Presidency as a foreign affairs chancellery. That's because both Bill Clinton and George W. Bush

There was rampant speculation over the last couple of days as to who Senator John McCain chose as his running mate. The speculation is over. Alaskan Governor Sarah Palin was been selected and will be introduced in just minutes at a press conference in Dayton, Ohio. This is an excellent choice for John McCain and the Republican Party. Many people will site her pro-life record and her stances on drilling in ANWR as great policy

With Ose 1000% behind McClintock, any hopes of a divided base are dashed.Charlie has yet to publicly endorse Barak Obama, even though a past post on this blog shows the Colonel with an Obambi sticker on his lapel. It appears that even the most staunch Hillary supporters and old-line Jimmy Carter Democrats have caved into the

I was psyched when I learned Sen. John McCain's had chosen Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin to be his running mate. And after watching her speak at the Dayton, Ohio rally with McCain, I am twice as psyched. I've been following Governor Sarah Palin for about a year, and I have long thought she represents the future of Republican Party -- if we want our future to be as a party dedicated to the reform of

John McCain has captured the media's attention on a day, even a long weekend, that was scheduled to be "All Obama, All the Time." Following last night's speech--which now seems like it happened a week ago--McCain announced his V.P. choice--Gov. Sarah Palin, of Alaska. This is a bold and seemingly brilliant pick. She has more executive experience than the entire Democratic ticket. She is very strong on both social and fiscal issues. From the L.A. Times

As predicted, the choice of Sarah Palin is being greeted with enthusiasm by the base of the Republican Party. Palin's choice has electrified conservatives in much the same way that Obama energized liberals. As evidence of this, former U.S. Senator and presidential candidate Fred Thompson has endorsed Palin. In a press release this morning, Thompson stated: I am absolutely delighted by this selection. Once again, John McCain has shown that he is an independent thinker who paints in

Update (12:33 PM): A friend up in Sacramento just sent this screenshot of the budget vote. Senator Ackerman did indeed vote no, and Senator Correa abstained. The vote was straight party-line, with only Correa abstaining. The budget got 24 yes votes and 15 no votes. It needed 27 votes to pass.So the Sac Bee is reporting that the Senate will vote on a budget proposal today, which includes a three-year long sales tax

When evaluating Barak Obama's acceptance speach last night one has to wonder who exactly he was talking about, because he sure didn't sound like he was describing himself. I think Tucker Bounds, McCain 2008 spokesman, put it best when he said: "Tonight, Americans witnessed a misleading speech that was so fundamentally at odds with the meager record of Barack Obama. When the temple comes down, the fireworks end, and the words are over,

Living up to his "Maverick" call sign, John McCain has gone with an unconventional pick for Vice President, Alaska Governor Sarah Palin. It is a brilliant move that I fully support, and one that I called for months ago. Palin, young attractive, pro-life, and pro-drilling in ANWR, will appeal to the conservative base of the party, women, and possibly to disgruntled working-class and southern supporters of Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton. She is the perfect compliment to moribund DC insider
22. Sarah Barracuda Brilliant McCain VP Choice
John McCain's campaign pulled off a major coup and gave Barack Obama's post-convention bounce a flat by naming Alaska Governor Sarah Palin as his Vice-Presidential nominee this morning. She is a 44 year old mother of five children whose reputation as a tough political infighter has earned her the nickname "Sarah Barracuda" around Alaska poltics. McCain picks up potentially millions of disillusioned Hillary supporters and undecided independents with this choice. He also not only solidifies the
