These are the tearjerkers: films that appeal to our passion for sports, and the inherent desire to see the underdog succeed. If you are an avid football fan, every one of these movies deserves your immediate attention (or at least a place in your HD DVR). All the major movie channels on DirecTV offer these movies consistently, easily flip through the guide, and interactive channels you can probably find at least one.
Friday Night Lights: A classic cult led by the widely acclaimed Peter Berg, Friday Night Lights covers the season of a Texas high school football team. In West Texas (or so the story leads us to believe), soccer is life, and vice versa. In fact in an award-winning television program, if nothing else Friday night lights a fascinating history of the fragility of youth. In particular, recommend this movie for teenagers and young adults.
Any given Sunday: The cast alone makes this movie a must-see. Cameron Diaz, Jamie Foxx, James Woods, Al Pacino, Dennis Quaid and all on the same screen? Throw in cameos by rapper LL Cool J and ex-football star Lawrence Taylor, and you have the recipe for a very entertaining successful function. Brought the first string, because of an injury at the start of Gold, Jamie Foxx is the nature of momentum suddenly in the spotlight. Unfortunately, this new world of fast cars, loose women, and high definition televisions blaring rap videos 24 / 7 began to unravel quickly, and the protagonist is forced to deal with issues such as racism, drug abuse and sexual abuse. Perhaps a veiled attempt at an inside look at the National Football League, in any event, Sunday offers a couple of hours of great entertainment.
Rudy: This is the feel good story, a story of perseverance, hard work and determination. Rudy is a young man from a small town in Indiana with a single dream: to bring the gold helmet of the Cathedral of Notre Dame Fighting Irish. Unfortunately, his diminutive stature is not close to matching their strong will to succeed. The history of the tracks of their ups and downs, and transcends the sport as a story of emotion and the strength of the human spirit. If you are trying to introduce a young person with the football, make sure your subscription Rudy precedes the NFL Sunday Ticket.
The Replacements: Our latest film is a departure from the other three with just a little. Replacements are a team led by crusts has been Shane Falco (played by Keanu Reeves). These "substitutes" are really a serious team of misfits, including a player released from prison for the sole purpose of playing as well as an alcoholic, addicted to gambling English. Such descriptions should just let you know you’re in a good moment.
DirecTV choose any of the great movie programming packages, and you will have access to these movies and more. All the above are a perfect complement to the great performance on Sunday and Monday night.
