Bo Tomlyn finished his PowerPoint presentation to a small group of people on the afternoon of Monday, announced its plan to raise funds for the summit of the Non-profit organization in the county with a great event presenting the best of pleasure Summit County. He and former Mayor Bernie Zurbriggen gathered about 25 community members to support his project.
The event, to be held at the Dillon Amphitheater and Riverwalk Center, will take place in early summer. Zurbriggen Tomlyn and wanted to push the event to April 24, but arts organizations and community members do not think there is sufficient time for planning. The event also aims to contribute to relief efforts in Haiti, but the idea was abandoned.
Tomlyn Zurbriggen, and like all arts organizations and musicians will participate in Summit County, including musicians, soloists, groups, schools and church choirs, dance groups, magicians and others.
“There is a huge advantage to do all that wonderful talent we have at the top,” said Tomlyn, giving the acronym “SWAT: summit to work together” for their mission.
Its goal is to raise at least $ 50,000 in the event first, and then organize a second edition around the week of Thanksgiving, as “the mentality of the people (give) is in the right place on the week,” said he said.
The one-day event will include an art exhibition, auction and bake sale 10-4, a record Idol Talent Show
2-5:30 pm and a show of posters recognition 6-9 hours, which honors local volunteers, are hung on the walls of the house.
“This could be so wonderful event feel good,” he said, adding that he hopes to repeat the event in the country.
The crew plans to raise money and then submit a grant for the local district and Rotary International Headquarters in an effort to raise funds.
“I support Rotary’s see what we can do for awards correspondence,” said Sandy Mortensen, former president of Rotary Club of Summit County.
Tomlyn Zurbriggen and is actively seeking volunteers, including scouts, choreographers, a silent auction and the organizers of art competitions, sponsors and others to help the cause.
“Non-profit organizations that participate will get the most out of it,” said Zurbriggen.
“This is a call to action for people who resonate with our vision,” Tomlyn said. “We need active people who want to transform it into a reality.”
Until now, Sandy Greenhut, president of Arts Summit, which represents over 20 organizations to nonprofit arts Summit County, has agreed to participate, visit the council next week. It also has some reservations about how the event is scheduled so early, without an adequate response of key players. Meanwhile, some people jump on board.
“The old (fundraising) ideas are aging,” says Mortensen. “It is a completely different way, which brings all these nonprofits.
Tomlyn has been in the music industry in Los Angeles and New York for 30 years, working with artists such as Barbra Streisand, Michael Jackson, Toto, Chicago and Earth Wind and Fire.Zurbriggen is 22 years local Summit County who served as mayor of Frisco (2004-2008), the House of Summit County and the presidents of Rotary, a board member of the city and more.
Tomlyn has already written a final test of the song, which is to involve everyone in the room and begins: “Two thousand feet, we can almost touch the sky we love life in our mountain paradise.
